While I was on the porch this afternoon taking pictures of rain-soaked birds, I happened to notice the field across from our house was flooded. Water was creating mini creeks everywhere. I could only imagine the water flowing from the cave. So when Dad said, Hey, do you want to me ride out with you to the cave...I immediately started gathering camera equipment (while he gathered his fishing pole and skeeter hat! Go Figure!)
The amount of water flowing across the field, down the creek, creating whirling currents that instilled momentary fear. I sure did not want to get to the edge today! I would hate to be swept away! The power of the mighy water, surging, continuously, ever coming, wave upon wave.
My dad had to do his little bit of fishing while we are standing out there in the downpour but, hey, he came along with me on this adventure. So I let him do a little fishing, catch the scary "Pink Critter of the Cave", and climb down banks for the perfect photo op! He just had to show off His Skeeter Hat! Remember, pouring down rain...
After a few more pictures, we started home but was momentarily distracted by the triple waterfall flowing down the neighbor's yard and drive. So we decided to drive a little farther down the road, just to see what we could see and there was plenty. Old bridges and barns, flooding everywhere, trees covered, turkeys in the field. Beauty and destruction, all within the power of water!
By the time, we did arrive home, guess what? Yes, there was not a dry thread on us but there were smiles on our faces!
