A Youth Center Update

Now that I am back...back to blogging that is...I decided to update you on the youth center. For the last several years, we have the same group of teens. Well, as time would have it, these kids have grown up (for the most part!) and now we have a new group of kids, excuse me "teens"!

I am not sure what it is about the youth center...but we seem to attract the skateboarders around town. Oh wait, could it be due to the mini ramp inside? Ever since the new indoor ramp arrived, our small group has grown and grown. With the approaching of summer vacation, I am sure it will continue to change and grow with the teens.

Here are some of the teens back in January when we celebrated the arrival of the new mini ramp!

This picture was taken last weekend...just because it had been a little while and seemed to be a whole new group of teens.

There are a bunch of good, silly, crazy, never know what to expect from kids!Heaven help the adults if all of them ever decide to visit on the same weekend!

Invest in a young life today!

It's Election Day! Vote Today!

As Americans, we are enabled with a privilege many among us take for granted: the opportunity to cast your vote!

Yes, we get tired of hearing the same old stories of scandal and corruption, fed the same line over and over of promises that go unfulfilled once election day is over.
But, consider this: how satisfying it can be to cast your vote, to voice your opinion, when you've done your research and can actually support a worthy candidate?
After months of hitting the roads, knocking on doors, community meet and greets, and the ever present signs posted everywhere, the day is here...Tuesday, May 18th...Primary Election Day!

This election season I was priviledged to take the PR photographs for one of our local candidates, Danetta Ford Allen, who is running for Rockcastle County Court Clerk! Everytime I pass one of her signs, I can't help but feel a moment of pride!

Good luck to Danetta and each of the candidates!

So...don't forget...it will only take a few minutes...but Cast your vote today!

A Special Happy Birthday!

On May 17th, a few years ago, a little girl was born whose journey through life, one that hasn't always been easy, has prepared her to be a woman of great influence!

As I have watched the many lives touched by the outpouring of love, the gestures of kindness, the words of wisdom, and a never quit attitude, I am so proud and honored to call this woman, my mom. She has shown by her example of how a life, a life of dedication to her Savious, should be fully lived.

Many times, as I watched her comfort, advise, pray..I wished that one day I could be just like her! She always has the right words for the moment and the gift that is so meaningful. She has taught me to give even when it is sacrifice, to love when the situation seems unlovable, and to being there when it's not convenient. So much of the woman I am becoming is a tribute to her.

Happy Birthday! I love you Mom!

Twins!

If I had a nickel for everytime I've heard that word...yes that word! TWINS!
There is no limit to the imagination of what I could do with the proceeds!

When my cousin, Jeanette and I trvel, we hear it all the time. In fact, so much so it has become an inside joke to us! When we head out, we see how long it takes before someone hesitantly asks: are you related? Yes! twins? No! Sisters? No! By that time, the person is usually embarassed for starting the conversation so we come to the rescue and just tell them..."We are twin first cousins!" Do WE think we look a like? Not really...especially since we dont even have the same hair color! Are there similarities? Some like glasses, long hair and dress styles!

But I think the "twin" moment recently reached epic proportions when much to our surprise perfect strangers on our recent cruise would walk by and greet us with Hey it's the twin cousins! Really? How do all these people know us?

Since I go thru this all the time, it is great fun to put the shoe on the other foot with my friends, Chrissy and Amanda!

Now these two girls really could be twins with their dark curly hair, similar builds and bubbly personalities...but they are not related whatsoever! So when I had an opportunity to catch these girls together at the auction on Saturday, I just couldn't resist the moment!

Twins Rule! Joy 2 u!
