A Special Surprise...Friday's Coming!!

Unexpectedly...Unplanned...Yes, that's how my family rolls! My brother and his family are in West Virginia this week attending a medical transport conference. On their way home Friday, they are coming through Kentucky for a quick visit at our house!!! Yeah!

With them making their home in North Carolina, each year we have the good intentions of getting together more often, especially with the boys growing up so fast, but life happens..Work, Ball Games, School, Soccer, Work! So we are learning to savor every moment together..especially the spontaneous, short-notice visits!

Just how much spoilin' can grandparents do in a few short hours? Just how many pics can a doting aunt take in a short time? How many special memories can be formed? Don't worry, I will keep you posted!!

Until next time...joy 2 u!

What Makes Weekends Special?

W - Warm weather, sunshine aplenty, spring blossoms, gently breezes lifting spirits...perfect weather to stroll down the Main Street, see the vendors ware at the Old Fashioned Days Festival, share a funnel cake with lots of powder sugar, enjoy a raspberry cheesecake shake (yummy!), greet friends you see once or twice a year

E - Emergency Evening Phone Call! Do you mind working an auction Saturday morning? Okay! Meet at 7 am! 7:00 A. M.!!!! (Have I lost my mind?)

E - Extra Early Rising - sometimes a Saturday morning sacrifice doubles in rewards! A beautiful sunrise, driving through the lovely countryside, geese flying overhead, huge trees perfect for children to play in....oh, and treated to lunch at Ruckel's Restaurant in Eubank...still home by early afternoon...a very productive morning! It truly gives meaning to the Psalm: this is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

K - Kids (a.k.a. Youth Center) With the festival going on downtown, youth were going in and out of the youth center all weekend, trying to cool down, just hangin' out and showing off..just typical teen stuff.

E - Extra Early Rising (again.!)..it's time to go grocery shopping!

N - Naps and rainy Sunday afternoons go hand in hand. Do you see a pattern?

D - Dogs! Saturday evening, I had my first photo shoot (if you can call it that) with a dog outside of our family. Brown Dog..now there's a case..I don't believe I ever seen such a BIG nervous dog who couldn't be won over with sweet words and lots of attention.
There's also nothing like a good movie about a puppy to pass a lazy Sunday afternoon..but be beware if you choose Marley & Me - you will also need a box of tissues! The whole movie could be summed up by the last and very thought provoking scene: A dog has no use for fancy cars or designer clothes, a water-logged stick will do just fine! It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, clever or dull, give him your heart and he will give you his..How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare, and pure, and special? How many people make you feel extraordinary?

S - Sunday Evening Service - no weekend is complete without some time spent in worship and preparation for another week!

Until next time...Joy 2 U!

P.S. Thanks for all of the notes of encouragement!

Hey There! Welcome to my First Blog!

After months of desire, the Queen of Procrastination has done it!! and here it is...my very first blog!!! I am excited and anxious all at the same time. I even have butterflies. Why blog? Just maybe someone, somewhere will be encouraged by the writings, thoughts and ramblings of a young lady on a journey. Maybe you will chuckle or laugh out loud, maybe you will be encouraged and see a ray of hope, or maybe just shake your head in disbelief at my crazy antics.

I have always loved to write (mostly, for myself) and keep a sporadic journal through the years but this is a first..sharing my writing..with you. I pray that each of you, my readers, may be blessed by the Lord, may he keep you in perfect peace, may his face shine upon you in blessing, and may you feel his loving arms surround you. I am looking forward to the grand adventures awaiting just around the corner.

Until next time...Joy 2 U!
